Footwear

In cleanroom environments, it is necessary to minimize the risk of accidents to personnel by slipping, and also to prevent faults and downtime caused by the discharge of static electricity. The correct footwear is necessary in addition to the installed plant, floor areas and clothing.

Footwear is worn for many hours each day, and must offer safety (for people and processes) as well as comfort.

There are differences in the footwear for safety, protection and industry, which are designed according to the following European standards:

DIN EN 61340-5-1: Protection of components sensitive to electrostatic charges/ overall requirements

DIN EN 4843-100: Requirements on the safety and technique and anti-slip test

DIN EN 344-1: Requirements and test methods for safety, protective and working footwear for industrial use

DIN EN 345-1: Specification of the safety shoe for professional use

DIN EN 346-1: Specification of the protective shoe for professional use

DIN EN 347-1: Specification of the professional shoe for professional use

Waterproof footwear should be worn wherever large quantities of liquids are present. PU clogs, which can be cleaned and desinfected, should be worn. Where it is necessary to limit or prevent electrostatic charging, antistatic or ESD protected footwear is essential.
